Dungeons & Dragons-ish on My Last Day of Work

On my last day of work at Sure, the insurance tech company I’ve worked at for the last year and change, I ran a very impromptu game of Dungeons & Dragons for some people on my team. And by “impromptu,” I mean I had literally nothing prepared save for an idea of how to design a set of rules simple enough to be explained in under ten minutes and some character builds based on those rules. Shouting Over Camelot

There were three conversations happening in a group of seven players, everyone’s voice a little elevated in order to be heard. I’m not sure everyone even knew whose turn it was anymore, because this had been going on for a couple of minutes. I pulled myself back from the melee for a second to smile in appreciation of how into it everyone was. We were all (mostly) on the same team, despite the appearance from the shouting, and everyone had their own excited ideas about the best next play.Read More »

Office Game Night: Sentinels of the Multiverse

Last night marked a successful game night at the office, wherein four of us joined forces for two games of Sentinels of the Multiverse, my favorite comic book superhero themed card game. (There is at least one other that is decidedly not my favorite.) All three of my coworkers—two of them pictured, one hiding—were new to the game, so I once again had the pleasure of introducing friends to a game that I love.
